Marine Supremacy Attitudes…

Are really starting to piss me off.  Don’t get me wrong, I respect the men and women who choose that path.  But the key word there is CHOOSE.  There is no draft right now, so anyone in the military right now has chosen that option.

I am friends with guys on Facebook who just entered the Marines, and are still stationed in the US, naturally. They always post these lame pictures and statuses saying stuff like, “If you think you’ve had a bad day, just imagine what it’s like to be a Marine and stop bitching.”

I thought being a Marine, or any type of armed forces soldier for that matter, was supposed to be about honor and sense of duty.  Telling people they have less of a right to bitch about their lives than you is not honorable, and certainly not dutiful either.

And they are allowed to have their cell phones and shit while they are on post, most of these guys in the Marines interact on Facebook as much as, if not more than me.  I work at FedEx and I’m not even allowed to have my cell phone in the BUILDING.  And one of the guys who preaches the most “Marine Supremacy” (they don’t view it this way, but that’s what it is) is being stationed in Hawaii for a couple years.  A tour of duty is 4 years and it’s almost been a year for him.  So he’s spending most of his duty in Hawaii.

Hard knock Marine life, for sure.  I’m getting sick of being passive aggressively put down and demeaned by people in the Marines, it’s unnecessary and makes the Marines look terrible.

Case and point, my close friend is in the Marines.  If I wasn’t his close friend, I wouldn’t even know it.  He never talks about it, he never complains about it.  He does the job he has chosen like a real man and doesn’t make anyone feel less of themselves.  A true Marine, a true hero.
